Fodor's Expert Review Chez Henri
This hip place on the water, flanked by the town pier, is named for its passionate chef-owner, Henri Vergerolle, an island character who spent much of his life in France but returned to open this restaurant and cultural center. Begin with a rum and fresh-squeezed juice. Smoked fish can be a component of a salad or an appetizer; the creole omelet is also very original. Everything is fresh here, but the limited menu might have only three main courses available (you can always choose the fish of the day). But just kick back and listen to African blues and view the latest art or sculpture exhibits. You might have the good luck to be here when there's a live music concert.
