A grand 19th-century neoclassical building has been lovingly restored in conjunction with the acclaimed Swiss art institute Daros to create one of Rio’s most impressive exhibition spaces. As well as housing the city’s most comprehensive collections of South American art—including paintings, photos, videos, and installations—the center hosts interesting visiting exhibitions and film screenings. Even the restaurant—run by the team behind culinary hot spot Miam Miam—is a cut above your average gallery café, and the vast grounds are a great place for visiting children to burn off some energy.
