Detour: A Good Combo
The Henry Art Gallery is well worth the trip. Stroll around the UW campus in the morning, especially if you happen to visit during the spring when the school's many cherry blossom trees are blooming. Then pay a visit to the Henry when it opens at 11 am, followed by spicy Vietnamese pho or Thai curry for lunch on The Ave—the U-District's main drag. If you still have energy, stroll from there to the Montlake Bridge; part of your walk can be along the Burke Gilman Trail. The bridge is a fun place to watch passing boats and kayakers in summer.
