When to Go
Winter Texans take up residence here during the late fall and winter because the lows rarely dip under 50 degrees and the highs can be near 75. Spring Break is a big attraction on the shore. March through May the weather fluctuates between 65 at night and 85 during the day. Summer and early fall can be unbearably hot, though the gulf breezes keep the heat from being as stifling as in inland cities along I–35.
The region is more crowded in the winter and spring, but the crowds rarely become a problem outside of the rowdy (and raunchy) Spring Break students at South Padre.
