7 Best Bars in Midtown and Edgehill, Nashville

Exit/In

Elliston Place Fodor's choice

Exit/In showcases the most cutting-edge blues, rock, heavy metal, and hip-hop bands from the United States and beyond. If you want to hear everything except country music, come groove in an unpretentious atmosphere.

The Patterson House

Midtown Fodor's choice
The Patterson House is one of Nashville’s long-standing speakeasy-style bars, offering a Prohibition-era feel with its obscured entrance, cordoned-off dining area, and house rules, such as one must be seated in order to be served a drink, and men cannot introduce themselves to women without invitation. However, this cultivated vibe makes it one of the most popular nightspots in the city—that, and the amazing drinks, which are crafted by mixologists at a bar in the middle of the chandelier-laden dining room.

Old Glory

Elliston Place
One of Nashville’s newest speakeasy-style lounges, Old Glory is housed in an old steam-cleaning facility, and retains most of the building’s original 1920s fixtures—all except the sign: you’ll find it by looking for the large golden triangle at its entrance. Drinks and company take center stage here; while there isn’t an expansive food menu, there are craft drinks that highlight fresh and seasonally available ingredients, like the Chiang Mai Fire, a mango-based cocktail that is all the rage among the summer crowd.

The Corner Bar

Elliston Place
Like many of its neighbors on the Elliston Place strip, The Corner Bar is heavy on local flavor and flair; its unpretentious clientele, great beer selection, and nightly karaoke make it a favorite among Midtown residents. Stop by for a late-night shot (whiskey or pool), and if you’re feeling lucky, try your hand at darts.
