A great option for those who like their budget prices in a well designed package, Moxy offers affordable rooms, attractive, functional design and a convenient location . The property provides an 'urban camping' experience - basic, efficient rooms provide modern hospitality without the bells and whistles of traditional hotels. The small rooms are balanced by large lounge areas, a sweeping rooftop bar and a high end restaurant.

You Should Know The midtown location means that you are well placed to explore all the big tourist sites but be aware; this is not the spot for a peaceful retreat. You are in the middle of some of the dirtiest, noisiest streets that Manhattan has to offer.

Room

The rooms really capture the design ethos of ‘urban camping’; the spaces are small and spare but well designed and cozy. Smart use is made of the minimal space with wall hooks in place of closets, a sink that doubles as a sideboard and towel rack, and small furniture which fold up and hang on the wall hooks. The aesthetic feels stylish, fresh and Scandinavian; lots of pale wood, white luxury cotton and simple leather in a natural color palette. A wall mounted TV allows you to connect to your own streaming accounts but other classic amenities such as mini bar, fridge and clock are absent. Their quad room with 4 bunk beds makes for a fun (if cramped) cabin experience perfect for a young family or friends looking to save money.

You Should Know The busy location , whilst convenient, means there is no escaping the noisy streets outside. All rooms provide ear plugs but if you are a light sleeper you may find them little comfort against the nonstop street noise through the night.

Bathroom

The attractive bathrooms relegate the sinks to the bedroom to make room for spacious, walk-in rain showers. Stylish tiling and a fantastic overhead shower do a great job of making the space feel luxurious for the price point, despite close proximity to the the toilet. The slim lavastone sinks sit under a mirror in the bedroom, where you will also find a hairdryer and steamer (in place of an ironing board).

Lobby

The welcome area feels modern and uncomplicated; the pale wood panelling and oversized jenga help to set the tone of a hotel that is utilitarian and stylish yet relaxed and playful. Young people check you in with great enthusiasm from behind simple wooden docks. The whole process is casual, friendly and efficient; like checking into an Apple Store. The open atrium above streams natural light; a soothing bath after the dirty street outside. Upstairs the lobby continues with a casual, bright seating area - multifunctional for morning coffee sipping, afternoon co-working or late night cocktail sipping.

Tip In lieu of rooms service you will find The Pick Up ; a to-go counter with coffee, snacks and light meals available to buy.

Gym

There is a 24-hour gym located in the basement; the design works to counteract any dingy feelings with bright murals and wall to wall mirrors. Decent sized space with a good selection of equipment. Moxy also offers free weekly fitness classes on the roof.

Dining

Legasea, the beautiful seafood restaurant onsite, is like entering a jeweled box of glossy green tile, polished copper and shiny mirrors. The space feels bustling and timeless ; a classic New York brasserie with modern, vibrant energy. The menu is expansive with dependable classics including a raw bar, fried chicken and simple grilled fishes. Friendly and attentive staff complete the experience.

Drinking

Moxy offers you two choices here; the relaxed bar and lounge (Bar Moxy) in the second floor atrium or the great views of the expansive Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge. Downstairs is perfect for a relaxed drink and small bites around the copper-wrapped bar and open lounge space. Head upstairs for a buzzy drink at the largest rooftop venue of any New York hotel all year round (the roof above closes for the winter season creating a cozy space). The design, created to feel like an adult playground, is cheeky and playful with vintage carousal seating, circus motifs and a distinctly adult mini golf course.

Moxy is conveniently located within walking distance to many of Manhattan's tourist destinations; you can explore much of the island on foot. You are also close to many subway trains : B,D,F,M,N,Q,R,W at 34th St Herald Square (4-minute walk) or A,C,E at 34th St- Penn Station (6 minute walk).

Restaurants

The Breslin at The Ace Hotel (11 minute walk) offers rich dishes by chef April Breslin in a low-lit, rustic setting. At the opposite end of the diet spectrum, By CHLOE (18 minute walk) is a hip New York spot for yummy Vegan food.
