MADE does good on its promise to deliver a luxurious boutique hotel experience for visitors who crave a unique and urban hotel stay. The design is gorgeous yet down-to-earth, but it’s the friendly staff and memorable rooftop bar that really stand out and make this different from your average hipster hang-out.

Found in the centrally-located NoMad neighborhood, MADE Hotel takes everything we love about the designer boutique hotel trend (hip design, rooftop bar, buzzy restaurant) and doubles down on the luxury and comfort. From the friendly and devoted staff to partnerships with socially-responsible companies, you can tell MADE cares about creating a unique, New York City-focused travel experience for their guests that leaves them feeling relaxed, rested, and just plain cool.

Room
MADE’s design is both urban and simple, with all the basics of a modern aesthetic covered: think hanging lights, mixed reclaimed woods and bronze metals, hand-woven textiles, and raised platform beds. Rooms stand out thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows (although the quality of your view will vary) and the insanely comfortable Leesa mattresses that might just be the best in the city.
You Should Know Be prepared for a lack of closet space (brass hangers are hung on a stylish racking shelf system instead); in-room amenities like irons and fridges are missing too.
Bathroom
Grey Japanese tile, copper fixtures, rain forest showers, and hand-carved limestone sinks all come together to create a serene bathing space. The sustainable Davines bath products help too.
You Should Know Some of the rooms feature peek-a-boo bathrooms, meaning parts of the wood wall are cut out. If you don’t want to get that up-close-and-personal with your travel buddies, make sure you can get a room with a bathroom that’s a little more private.
Lobby
Walking into MADE feels much more like walking into a typical NYC café than a hotel lobby. On-site coffeehouse Paper serves both midtown workers and guests alike, and even the low-key Lobby Bar swings more bar than lobby.
Tip If Lobby Bar gets too crowded, escape to the second floor patio that’s reserved strictly for guests.
Dining
In the hotel’s intimate basement space (with accompanying courtyard), you’ll find Ferris, a New American restaurant serving ambitious seasonal cuisine like blood sausage, Iberico pork collar, and roasted sunchokes. Paper also offers pastries (and of course, coffee and tea) for the breakfast crowd, and Lobby Bar serves small bites.
Drinking
On the 18th floor of MADE is Good Behavior, a rooftop bar and lounge space with A+ views of the Empire State Building, a Tiki-inspired cocktail menu, and DJs spinning tunes late into the night.
Tip Seriously, go to this bar. Too many hotels and bars in midtown advertise rooftop views that are seriously lacking in the wow factor (or are too crowded to actually enjoy). The views here will definitely do your Instragram feed proud, the drinks are surprisingly affordable, and the smaller space means the guest count is kept low.

Getting Around
NoMad is one of the best neighborhoods to explore on foot. Walking uptown will get you to Macy’s and Madison Square Garden in less than 10 minutes and Bryant Park and Times Square in just under 15 minutes. Walking downtown, you can get to Union Square in 20 minutes. The subway options are a bit lacking, with the closest subway stops being the R, W, and 1 at 28th Street. Take the walk to Madison Square Garden and you'll find a whole bevy of subway options.
Restaurants
Some of the city’s best dining is in a one-block radius from MADE. A block towards Broadway, you’ll find celebrated gastropub The Breslin (5-minute walk) and its swoon-worthy lamb burger. A block in the other direction gives you Lupolo (5-minute walk), a rustic Portuguese spot focusing on sea food and small plates. A short 10-minute walk will take you to Madison Square Park and the Italian food mecca of Eataly and the original location of Shake Shack.
Bars
Join the sophisticated after-work crowd for oysters and cocktails at the John Dory Oyster Bar a block away, or delve into the wine list at The NoMad (2-minute walk).
