Why We Like It

This is the only place in Chinatown to stay, outside of Airbnb, and the boutique-style hotel is a great place to base camp if you plan to explore other areas of Chicago after you've tired of ramen and bubble tea. Convenience to public transportation means you can leave the car at the hotel or not bring one at all.

Fodor's Expert Review

Open since 2016, and managed by a family with roots in Chinatown, this 101-room hotel is a nice option if you want to explore the Asian surroundings or simply get out of the Loop corridor. Starbucks in the lobby gives you morning fuel while the rooms' pillow-top mattresses, chic red decor and Chicago-skyline views are nice perks.

You Should Know If you really don't like Asian food and desire something different, you'll have to travel outside of the neighborhood at meal times, which is something to consider.

Room

A desk helps with working on the road while the pillow-top mattresses ensure a good night's sleep. Two arm chairs and a side table between make the room feel like a place you'd actually want to hang out in. Cherry-red, white and tan decor--and splashy art above the beds--is neutral but also not a blah design scheme.

Tip The King Suite is a nice option for families or groups of friends traveling together. It's a two-room suite with a King bed and pull-out sofa bed.

Bathroom

Glass-walled showers with sliding doors in the marble baths are spacious and there is plenty of room on the vanity countertop to store toiletries and other items.

Lobby

The lobby's Starbucks cafe is a great addition for snacks and pastries on the go, as well as espresso and coffee drinks. A see-through fireplace is surrounded by tufted-leather sofas and armchairs in a gold-khaki hue.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The Cermak-Chinatown L stop is a 4-minute walk from the hotel, allowing you to travel around Chicago with ease. Uber and Lyft drivers are a call away. The 62 bus is a straight-shot to the Loop from the hotel, about a 20-minute ride.

Restaurants

Joy Yee (4-minute walk) is one of Chinatown's best restaurants (so much that locations have opened up elsewhere in the Chicago area) and serves bubble teas, noodle dishes and other Pan Asian dishes until late (10:30 p.m.). Strings Ramen Shop (2-minute walk)--considered Chicago's best spot for ramen--elevates the menu with its Japanese influence such as sashimi.

Bars

Reggie's Chicago (9-minute walk) is a rock club with a full bar and always has the game on. Cocktails at Velvet Lounge (10-minute walk) are served alongside live jazz and DJ-spun tunes.
