True to the Hyatt Centric brand, this is a hotel that considers every need a traveler might have, especially one drawn to an urban setting. Dining and drinking options are high quality (and their spaces gorgeous), the rooms spacious and bright; and the location puts you near cultural attractions, the lakefront, museums and more.

In 2015, this Hyatt Centric debuted as a more youthful and contemporary offering within the Hyatt brand, which tends to target Millennial travelers. Tucked into a late 1920s Art Deco building spanning 22 stories, there's a rooftop lounge, French-style ground-floor restaurant and 257 rooms, plus a fitness center.
Tip Planning to stay long? The $100 pet fee (so long as your dog is 50 pounds or less) makes little sense for a one-night stay but remains the same for up to six nights.

Room
Bright and airy, the 257 rooms feature the signature Hyatt Grand Beds within platform beds, a small fridge (great for storing leftovers or chilled drinks), plus a Keurig coffeemaker. Decor is minimalism and modern, including crisp white bed linens, blonde-wood furnishings and reading sconces attached to the headboard. For a stellar view, ask for one of the High Floor rooms. Suites are just like the other rooms but with an additional seating area (a chaise and a sofa).
You Should Know Planning to work while at this property? There isn't a definite desk: instead, you'll have to make do with a chair and round table, or a built-in counter with a seating bench.
Bathroom
Showers and toilets are separated by a door, perfect if not traveling alone. There's lots of countertop space to store toiletries and the wall-size mirror is well-lit.
Lobby
As a testament to its contemporary vibe, behind the check-in desk is a splashy piece of art, with gold-ish armchairs nearby and bamboo-like flooring throughout.
Gym
Open 24/7, the hotel's fitness center caters to business travelers stuck in meetings all day as well as jet-lagged travelers.
Dining
There are two dining options in the hotel: Aire, the rooftop lounge (open seasonally), serves shareable small plates while Cochon Volant flaunts a French-brasserie theme designed by a James Beard Award-winning chef that starts with pastries in the morning and winds into a seafood-centric menu at night. A grab-and-go market keeps you fueled during the day.
Drinking
Drinks at Aire, the rooftop lounge, are paired with panoramic views of Chicago's skyline, plus potted plants and patio umbrellas. Wine and cocktails are the main focus and it's only open during the warmer months.

Getting Around
You definitely don't need a car here. Lyft and Uber drivers are never far away and there are four L stops within a few blocks' walk of the hotel. To travel west, say to the United Center, simply take the 20 bus from Madison & Lasalle. Most cultural attractions (museums, the theater and the opera) are within a 20-minute walk of the hotel.
Restaurants
Near the hotel (3-minute walk), inside the JW Marriott Chicago, is a fabulous Italian-Mediterranean restaurant called The Florentine, serving lunch and dinner. For a taste of Chicago's deep-dish style pizza, head to Giordano's (7-minute walk).
Bars
The Loop can turn dark after night and offers less imbibing options than, say, River North, Fulton Market or West Loop, but the good news is that these neighborhoods are not far away. The Aviary's (9-minute walk, to Fulton Market) culinary-grade cocktails are crafted in a full-on kitchen. Tiki drinks at Three Dots and a Dash (10-minute ride) is a fitting example of River North's trending bars of the moment.
