Why We Like It

The fact that you can walk out the door and be in the midst of Old Town makes this place pretty darn special; its 90+ years of history and roster of former guests just adds to its appeal. Yeah, we know the elevators are a little strange, and the walls are kind of thin, but the onsite amenities make La Concha a modern day adult playground--and you should definitely come play!

Fodor's Expert Review

Historic properties always have their quirks, and La Concha is no exception, but (and that’s a big but), this property also provides guests with a sought-after location, and plenty of fun and indulgent amenities.

You Should Know Valet parking is an additional $26 a night. Elevators are slow.

Room

Rooms and suites are decorated with dark wood furniture, dark plantation shutters, carpeted floors, textured walls, and deep blue painted ceilings. The dresser that holds the 42" flat screen TV has doors that hide the mini-fridge. Some rooms have a balcony. The bedding and mattresses are delightfully comfortable.

Tip Unless you’re in a suite, you will feel cramped, but the location will make you forget any room size woes. Upgrade if you can.

Bathroom

Glass-enclosed marble shower, one-piece vanities with sunken sink, good towels and bath products, and a flattering mirror with built-in side lighting.

You Should Know In a regular room, the bathroom space is tight. You could wash your hands while doing your business, but you can’t shut the door if you didn’t before you sat down--the door will hit your knees.

Lobby

Step through the automatic glass doors and the décor will immediate wow you. It’s chic and modern with a whole lot going on since it's the hub of the property.

Tip Parking is on the right side of the building. Pull into what looks like an alley way, right under the "La Concha" sign.

Pool

It’s not big at all, but this heated pool has some cool features--like the fact that’s on the roof of the second floor. You’ll find plenty of lounge chairs and a pool bar, too.

You Should Know Both the pool bar and the pool close early, so be sure to get in all your fun before the sun goes down. No nighttime fun-having allowed at this pool.

Spa

Appropriately named Top Spa, this is the highest point in Key West, and the panoramic views are spectacular. Treatment rooms each have a private balcony, a 55” flat screen, stocked mini fridge, and a relaxing rain shower. The spa menu includes facials, massages, body treatments, and mani/pedis. And, one free drink is included with your treatment. Top Spa is a heavenly experience among the clouds.

Gym

There is a fitness area but it only has three treadmills and a few ellipticals. However, the views from the top floor are fantastic.

Dining

For fresh seafood and tapas-style small plates, 430 Duval, right off the lobby, totally nails it. Larger plates include fish tacos and the Grouper Reuben. This is also where breakfast is served, although not included with your stay.

Drinking

Wine-O is not what you’d expect in a bar on Duval Street. Forget tropical themes and Jimmy Buffett, this venue is chic and sophisticated (even though you’ll probably be here in shorts and flip flops). Chandeliers, walls of wine bottles, funky bar stools, and an extremely red sofa and chair perfect for photo ops. Sit along the window and people watch as you sample flights of wine and nibble on generous cheese plates.
