Mission Bay

San Francisco is a small city, but it can't really build much more. There is one major exception: Mission Bay. The name is confusing because the area isn't attached to the Mission District (it's bordered by Mission Creek). The most famous "locals" in the neighborhood are the NBA's Golden State Warriors, who play at the dazzling Chase Center. In this area between Oracle Park and Dogpatch, it's impossible to miss the construction and the tall, shiny new glass condo buildings (skyscrapers by San Francisco housing standards) that feel more like L.A. or Miami. But it's also easy to see the energy of a new neighborhood, a rarity in quirky and old San Francisco.

Possibly more than any other neighborhood in the city, you'll see kids playing in parks and dogs enjoying the sunshine here. It's a very family-friendly and pedestrian-friendly area. Families from all over the Bay Area enjoy spending weekend days playing miniature golf at Stagecoach Greens and enjoying lunch or dinner from the food trucks in the Spark Social multipurpose park complex.
