$$$ | |In business since 1991, the restaurant is regionally known for seafood, which is processed on the premises; steamed snow crab is a highlight. Some dishes swing Italian—there’s a seafood pizza, crab calzone, seafood risotto, and penne with mussels and clams. The dining room is grand but nothing fancy. Natural wood trim barely lightens the mostly olive green color scheme.

$ | |This is the quintessential "you can’t judge a book by its cover" kind of place, but get past the boxy and dull exterior and you'll find a cool, retro 1950s diner look, from the black-and-white-checked tile floor to the chrome and red laminate tables and chairs. Soups, including seafood chowders, as well as burgers and hot dogs fit the diner feel. Most fans rave about the fries. Grab a sack and head out to the waterfront for a stroll that feels oh so French Canadian.

$$ | |A true pub, with local beers, ribs, burgers, onion rings, and homemade chips, but the kitchen also serves gourmet delights with local and international flair. Foie gras, salmon tartare, filet mignon, Coquille St. Jacques, spaghetti and goat cheese, and vegetable pizza have all shown up as specials. People-watching is great, especially on the heated, partially enclosed patio that feels a little like a beer garden. Come on St. Patrick's Day and you're likely to get green beer.
