Fodor's Expert Review Hotel North
19 West St., St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador, A0K 4S0, Canada
The centrally located Hotel North might not be the most scenic spot in town, but it contains pleasant and comfortable rooms (also two self-contained cottages), all with Sealy Posturepedic mattresses. The rooms are on the large side, and some have fireplaces. The on-site restaurant, Jungle Jim's, was made infamous by Karl Ove Knausgaard's travel writing in the New York Times.
PROS
- all rooms have mini-refrigerators and coffeemakers
- popular restaurant on-site
- open throughout the year
CONS
- parking gets crowded
- no landscaping
- meals not included in price
