Why We Like It
Over 20 years after it first opened, Westin remains the most striking architectural achievement in Los Cabos. Accommodations, services, and amenities are all first-class, and despite a new focus on timeshares since reopening post-Hurricane Odile, it’s still a great upscale resort option.
Fodor's Expert Review
Built by prominent Mexican artist Javier Sordo Madaleno, the colorful design, and architecture reflecting the famous Arco (arch) makes this Westin more memorable than some of the others resorts in the Corridor. The rooms, some set high above the beach, are among the best in their price range and have ocean views and Westin's trademark Heavenly Beds with cushy pillows and comforters. Junior suites have balcony Jacuzzis, marble floors, extra pullout beds, and connecting rooms for families or larger parties. For the best view, request a \"Royal\" room over the top of the arch, which includes a private beach club, cocktails, and breakfast. The dramatic setting of the hotel means you'll get plenty of exercise moving from one area to another, which is good for some and less appealing for others. Restaurant hours are staggered for all-day service, and a half-dozen grill stations are available for guests who'd like to prepare their own feasts.

Room
Westin’s 147 suites, which it calls “villas,” each showcase king-sized Heavenly beds and family-friendly convertible sofas, as well as a full range of appliances, including dishwashers and washer/dryer sets. Gorgeous Sea of Cortés views are on display in all suites, but are best viewed from terrace seating areas.
Tip Connecting suite features are perfect for couples traveling together. On-site babysitting services are available for visiting families.
Bathroom
Notable bath amenities include White Tea brand toiletries and Westin’s signature Heavenly Head, featuring dual showerheads: one hand-held, the other affixed overhead for a gentle “rain shower.”
Lobby
The large, airy lobby is book-ended on one side with niche-set objets d’art, on the other with patio views of the manicured grounds, sculpted towers, and the Sea of Cortés beyond.
Pool
A serpentine infinity-edge pool with swim-up bar overlooking the beach, and a kid-friendly splash about are, depending upon one’s age, the preferred choices to take a dip.
Spa
The colorful atmosphere at Spa Otomí is provided by artwork from an indigenous people (the Otomí) who live in central México. The signature treatment is a lomilomi style massage combined with warm poultices and stretches with a traditional Mexican shawl.
Gym
In addition to the fitness center–open 24-hours a day–guests may also enjoy sporty options like tennis, miniature golf, and pool and beach volleyball.
Dining
Fresh local seafood dishes pair well with tropical breezes and umbrella-garnished cocktails at the beachfront Coralline, while breakfast and internationally themed dinner buffets headline the bill of fare at Cocina Casera. Hilltop El Ciruelo is a romantic dinner spot.
Tip Stock up on food and sundries at Mercadito, an on-site shop open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Staple items include wines plus freshly prepared pizzas and sandwiches.
Drinking
La Cantina Sports Bar serves cold beers and shows all the latest games, as well as providing a few of its own: two pool tables, plus a pair of foosball tables. Swim-up Margaritas Bar in the main pool specializes in its namesake.

Getting Around
Westin’s corridor location means bus or taxi service, or rental cars are necessary to reach cape cities Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, as well as other regional day-trip destinations. Transportation, including rental cars, can be arranged in the lobby.
Restaurants
El Merkado, a recently opened culinary space nearby (3-minutes by car along the Carretera Transpeninsular, at Km 24.5), offers several excellent dining options, including Neapolitan themed Pan di Bacco, Oyster Bar, sushi bar Akira, Cha Cha Cha salad and juice bar, and Cabo BBQ. The space is also home to various markets, including a butcher’s shop.
Bars
Lovers of fine suds should stop by Losson & Brothers microbrewery at El Merkado.
