Why We Like It

Luxury and all inclusive plans are not natural bedfellows, but Grand Fiesta Americana carries off the tricky twofer quite nicely. The fact that the resort only switched over from the European plan about four years ago helps, since they retained previous staff levels. The location is spectacular.

Fodor's Expert Review

The dramatic lobby of this all-inclusive resort is eight stories above the beach, and every room looks out onto the Sea of Cortez. Cream-colored walls, rich marble floors, ocean views, and abundant art make for an elegant atmosphere in the 420-square-foot rooms. The 14 suites have their own swimming pool and separate entrance. A complimentary minibar is stocked daily, meaning you can enjoy a cocktail on the tiny terrace while admiring the view. As part of the Cabo del Sol development, the Fiesta offers guests access to the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Ocean Golf Course, in addition to the luxurious spa. Though the beach is rocky, this is one of the few hotels on a stretch of water that is safe for snorkeling. This is not the place for people looking for Cabo's famous party scene.

Room

Furnishings are chic yet comfortable, with soft colors and abundant natural light contributing to a breezy tropical elegance. Terrace views of the Sea of Cortés are available from most rooms.

Tip For the ultimate in seaside elegance, reserve Casa del Mar, the resort’s spacious and scenically situated two-bedroom villa.

Bathroom

Wall-to-wall mirrors and soak tubs lend a sybaritic quality to the en suite facilities.

Lobby

Checkerboard tile floors, artfully arranged seating, and an enormous wood-beamed ceiling distinguish Grand Fiesta Americana’s impressive lobby area.

Pool

Six swimming pools are arrayed around a terrace overlooking the evocatively named Playa Barco Varado (Shipwreck Beach), named for a Japanese longline fishing vessel that ran aground there in 1965. The beach is clear now, and quite beautiful, but swimming is considerably less rocky in the spacious infinity pool. Other pool features include a swim-up bar for adults, an aquatic volleyball set up, and a dedicated kids area.

Tip Comfort food stations are arranged like pit stops around the pool area.

Spa

The onsite SOMMA WineSpa specializes in vinotherapy, wine-based treatments and therapies like the Chardonnay deep-tissue massage. Massages may also be scheduled in picturesque beachside cabañas.

Gym

State-of-the-art treadmill machines offer inspiring Sea of Cortés views. Elliptical and other exercise machines are also available.

Dining

The resort boasts no less than nine onsite restaurants, with specialties ranging from traditional Mexican and fresh local seafood to Italian favorites and twice weekly theme night buffets. Unlike most all inclusives, Grand Fiesta Americana allows its restaurant chefs to craft their own individual menus, which leads to more eclectic and memorable dining experiences.

Drinking

Enjoy a cocktail with your Cuban stogie in the Cigar Bar. Relax around a fire pit in the Tapas Bar, or paddle by the swim-up bar for margaritas.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Like many all inclusives, Grand Fiesta Americana is set up so that the guests’ every need can be met on-site. Those desirous of venturing beyond the bounds of the 33-acre property will find nothing is within walking distance. Although it is possible to be ferried by golf cart out to the highway to catch a bus to either Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo, practically speaking a rental car is a necessity for any outside foray.

Restaurants

Widely considered the most romantic restaurant in Los Cabos, Sunset da Mona Lisa (5-minutes by car along Hwy 1) offers breathtaking sunset views of the half-mile Land’s End headland, as well as excellent Mediterranean fare, and fine Champagnes at the seaside Taittinger Terrace. Chef Yvan Mucharraz oversees the superb Mexican cuisine at Comal, the signature restaurant at the newly opened Chileno Bay Resort & Residences (5-minutes by car along Hwy 1).

Bars

TnT (Tacos & Tequila) at Chileno Resort & Residences offers a great selection of artisanal tequilas and mezcals. Sunset Point (above Sunset da Mona Lisa) is a romantic place for cocktails.
