Sorry! We don't have any recommendations for Appenzell right now.
Butchers, bakers, and liquor shops up and down the streets offer souvenir bottles of Appenzeller Bitter (Alpenbitter), an ironically very sweet aperitif made in town. A well-balanced eau-de-vie called Appenzeller Kräuter, made with blended herbs, is another specialty. Shops also sell Mostbröckli, an air-dried beef, Landjäger, a smoky dried sausage, regional cheeses, locally produced beer and wine, and bottles of peaty Swiss whiskey.
