Fodor's Expert Review Dome
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
Dome is one of the still-growing contingent of bars and restaurants installed in the buildings of the former Krasny Oktyabr chocolate factory, on the sliver of an island south of Christ the Savior cathedral. In the capacious exposed-brick hall, pre-partying hipsters sip whiskey at the bar while dining couples recline in purple velvet egg chairs; speakers fill the air with everything from soul to retro rock. The mood is decidedly down-tempo, but it's worth rousing yourself to eat, as the eclectic cuisine is a cut above typical bar food. The salads are fresh and well prepared, and some of the small plates go beyond the call of duty; the harissa-spiked chicken wings, for instance, are a revelation. Drinks are overpriced, but the food is a good value.
