3 Best Places to Shop in Sintra, the Estoril Coast, and the Setúbal Peninsula, Portugal

Azulejos de Azeitão

Fodor's choice
Stop here if you're eager to get your hands on some of those distinctive Portuguese tiles. The company uses traditional methods to paint and glaze each of the tiles sold in the shop. Many of the designs for sale originated the 16th to the 19th centuries. You can even try your hand at painting your own tile.

Ceramicarte

Luís Soares presents his own carefully executed, modern ceramic designs alongside more traditional jugs and plates at Ceramicarte. There's also a small selection of tapestries and an art gallery.

Espaço Fortuna

Down the road from Palmela is a wonderful little shop selling hand-painted ceramics and azulejos. On the top floor is a café with an outdoor terrace, which is a great place to take a coffee break and savor some local sweets.
