Public Transit Travel

Within Oslo, subways and most buses and tramways (trikk) start running at 5 am, with the last run after midnight. On weekends, there's night service on certain routes. Trips on all public transportation within Oslo cost NKr 30 (remember to validate your ticket before boarding), with a one-hour free transfer; tickets that cross municipal boundaries have different rates. It often pays to buy a pass or multiple-travel card, which includes transfers. A day card (dagskort) costs NKr 90 and a seven-day pass costs NKr 240. Tickets can be used on subways, buses, or tramways.

Tickets are available at numerous kiosks and shops, including Narvesen and 7-Eleven, as well as from machines at the subway stations. The Oslo Pass (from NKr 320 for one day, NKr 470 for two days, and NKr 590 for three days) offers unlimited travel on all public transport in greater Oslo as well as free admission to several museums and sights, discounts at specified restaurants, and other perks. You can buy the cards at tourist offices and hotels.
