Taxi Travel

Taxis are dispatched via radio from a central office, and it can take up to 30 minutes to get one during peak hours. There are also taxi stands all over town, usually near Narvesen kiosks. It's possible to hail a cab on the street, but cabs aren't allowed to pick up passengers within 100 yards of a stand. It's not unheard of to wait for more than an hour at a taxi stand in the wee hours of the morning, after everyone has left the bars. Never take pirate taxis; all registered taxis should have their roof lights on when they're available. Rates start at around NKr 109 for hailed or rank cabs, depending on the time of day and the company.
