Ayios Nektarios Monastery

Two of the most important festivals held at Ayios Nektarios Monastery are Whit Monday, or the day after Pentecost (the seventh Sunday after Easter), and the November 9th Saint's nameday, when the remains of Ayios Nektarios are brought down from the monastery and carried in a procession through the streets of town, which are covered in carpets and strewn with flowers.

Ayios Sostis

On September 6 and 7, the feast of the martyr Sozon is observed with a two-day paniyiri (saint's day festival), celebrated at the church of Ayios Sostis in Perdika. The revelry spills over into town especially the local tavernas.

Panayia Chrysoleontissa

On the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, August 15th—the biggest holiday of the Christian summer throughout Europe—a celebration is held at Panayia Chrysoleontissa, a mountain monastery built between 1403 and 1614.
