Set in a converted factory in the heart of up-and-coming Neukölln, these individually decorated wooden huts and vintage caravans offer a funky take on glamping (glam indoor camping). You'll get the feel of sleeping under the stars without worrying about bugs or Berlin's chilly weather. A charming community space provides a well-stocked library and a small morning breakfast. There’s also a beautiful garden terrace with flowers, foliage and seating.
room
Rooms vary completely, depending on whether you stay in a retro caravan, a Scandinavian-style cabin or in an indoor treehouse. There are also large hotel rooms, outfitted with minimalist black furnishings, should you seek a more traditional stay.
YOU SHOULD KNOW The accommodations are not soundproofed, and just as if you were camping, you will hear your neighbors.
bathroom
There’s a communal bathroom (separated by gender) with toilets and showers if you’re staying in the caravans and cabins; regular rooms have ensuite baths with showers.
lobby
A community space provides a well-stocked library and plenty of seats for lounging, and in warm weather, the garden area is the place to hang with fellow guests.
LOCATION
Getting Around
Set in the edgy Neukölln neighborhood and close to a slew of cool bars, the hotel is a short walk to the U-Bahn station at Hermannplatz.
Restaurants
Slightly upscale for the neighborhood, Beuster Bar’s (10-minute walk) cool gastropub vibe and excellent schnitzel and moules frites means plenty of hungry crowds. Serving only desserts, and only as part of a multi-course dessert tasting menu, the slickly designed Coda (2-minute walk) is one of the more unique food experiences in the city; be sure to splurge for the perfectly paired cocktails.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Definitely a unique hotel experience—though its shared bathrooms might not appeal to upscale travelers—the retro-themed artist-designed caravans and cabins accommodations let you “get back to nature” in the middle of a bustling city. We especially like the cozy “Little Sister” caravan, lined with wood mosaics and surrounded by birch trees and the kooky pop art-styled Nomad caravan.
