Fodor's Expert Review Dzveli Batumi
Kostava 24, Batumi, Ajaria, 6000, Georgia
Lodgings with a personal touch can be found at this small inn run by husband and wife Gocha and Irina Meskhi in the center of the old town. The rooms thoroughly embrace a retro vibe, with red and brown fabrics and semi-antique furnishings (flatscreens need not apply) that seem pre-independence either by design or practicality. Nonetheless, it stands in charming contrast to the surrounding glass and steel of the refurbished city, and the views out the windows onto the clusters of neighboring appartments gives a sense of Batumi behind the scenes. The family feel also means mom-cooked breakfasts in the morning.
PROS
- authentic homey atmosphere
CONS
- awkward bathroom design
