Fodor's Expert Review Tranquility On The Bay

Crooked Island, Bahamas

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

On beautiful scallop-shaped 3-mile-long Winding Bay, lies Tranquility On The Bay, a recently built lodge with five spacious air-conditioned rooms, and a clubhouse with dining room and bar. The 2½-acre property, also with a a beauty salon and gift shop, is owned by Daphne and Bernard Ferguson, the Ministry of Tourism’s representative for the island. The restaurant is one of the island's best, serving three meals a day. When the dining room is full of lively guests or groups they can call in the "Itch 'n' Scratch Band" for some fun Rake 'n' Scrape music. The peaceful, beautiful setting beckons you to explore farther afield, and Bernard is just the person to arrange everything, from cars, nature and sightseeing tours, diving, island picnics by boat, and, of course, the island’s main draw, any kind of fishing, especially bonefishing. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, room refrigerators, satellite TV, kayaks, and snorkeling gear to enjoy right off the pristine beach.
