Fodor's Expert Review The Old Man & The Sea
Local music celebrity Jonathan Vieira and his artist mother, Osyth Henriquez, have created an open-air restaurant so magical that the food seems almost superfluous. The location requires a cab ride (unless you have a rental car), but the beachfront setting, with tables in the sand, is gorgeous. The menu offers both seafood and the usual steak choices, but there is a distinct Caribbean flavor to almost everything. The spicy Caesar salad and seared catch of the day coated in a tangy papaya marinade are popular choices. The quality of the food and the service can be erratic, and the prices are high even by Aruban standards. Still, it is hard to get too impatient with sand between your toes. Insect repellent is a must if it's been raining.
