2 Best Sights in Halong Bay and Around, Halong Bay and North-Central Vietnam
Sorry! We don't have any recommendations for Halong Bay and Around right now.
So much to sail, so little time … Halong Bay is a destination not to be rushed; you need several days to do it justice. Day cruises will only whet your appetite, and an overnight trip will simply get you in the zone moments before it’s over. If your schedule allows, opt for a two-night, three-day trip to properly explore the waters. Halong’s must-sees include a visit to a floating village, kayaking, caving, and a day at Cat Ba Island. The eons of erosion have left countless nooks and crannies to explore: secluded half-moon beaches lie at the base of steep untouched forest canopies, and grottoes of all shapes and sizes—some well tramped, others virtually unknown—are open jaws of stalactites and stalagmites. One of the largest and most visited is the Grotto of the Wooden Stakes (Hang Dau Go), claimed to be the 13th-century storage spot for the stakes that General Tran Hung Dao planted in the Bach Dang River in order to repel the invasion of Kublai Khan. This cavernous grotto has three distinct chambers and is reached by climbing 90 steps. Another quite popular destination in the bay is theGrotto of Bewilderment (Sung Sot), a stalagmite cave, estimated to be 1 million years old, with 29 chambers inside.
The best way to hit all destinations is through a reputable tour company.
