Fodor's Expert Review Eko-in
497 Koya-san, Koya, Wakayama-ken, 648-0211, Japan
This friendly temple, close to Okuno-in, is where you can take part in morning prayers and observe the morning fire ceremony. The price covers a simple tatami room with a TV, access to a communal bath, as well as a good vegetarian dinner and breakfast served in-room. The difference between the per-person rates is based on the number of dishes served at each meal. From the cable-car terminus, take the bus for Okuno-in and get off at the Karukayado stop. Eko-in is several hundred meters east along the main road.
