Getting Here and Around

Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, is also the area’s main travel hub. You can board trains and buses to most corners of the region and planes to just about anywhere in the country. To avoid long and backbreaking journeys by bus, it's worth flying at least occasionally, and with tickets often heavily discounted there's not always a huge price difference. The train is often more comfortable than buses in addition to being extremely efficient—and with the great scenery, time passes quickly.
