If you need proof that Jo'burg is revitalizing, Maboneng Precinct (along Main street) is one example. Once a place to avoid, this neighborhood is buzzing with art galleries, indie boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, rooftop bars, and apartments. Vendors display their wares (paintings, batik tablecloths, beadwork, and souvenirs) along the main stretch of the street. It can be a little overwhelming driving there alone, especially with so many one-way streets, and the outlying area can be a bit frenzied, so you may want to visit on a guided tour.
