Beaches

The northern Mediterranean beaches, centered on Cap Malabata, between Tangier and Ceuta, are some of the region's finest. Their water is a typical Mediterranean turquoise, and secluded spots are easy to come by if you take the time to look.

The road south from Ceuta to Martil passes more than 32 km (20 miles) of modern beach resorts that offer a wide array of sports and activities. These good, if somewhat touristy, family beaches are heavily populated in summer. You could say that this is north Africa’s answer to Spain's Costa del Sol.

El Chorrillo Beach. Ceuta's most frequented beach both day and night, El Chorrillo offers perfect sun rays in the morning and a calm Mediterranean atmosphere after dark. The sand is nothing special, but the water is relatively calm all year-round, and the undertow is unthreatening. It can get very crowded in summer. Amenities: parking; toilets; water sports. Best for: sunrise; sunset; swimming; windsurfing. Just off Av. Martinez Catena, Ceuta, Ceuta.
