When to Go

The most popular time to visit is between December and April. During holidays, prices are higher and it's more difficult to find accommodations. During the rainy season from May to October—when there is still plenty of good weather—crowds are rare and hotel prices drop significantly.

Climate

Caracas and much of Venezuela boast a year-round mild climate, with temperatures ranging between 65°F and 75°F during the day and rarely dropping below 55°F at night. Expect it to be colder in the higher altitudes of the Andes. Some coastal areas are hotter and more humid, but you can usually depend on a cool breeze.

Holidays

All the days listed below are major holidays, when banks, schools, and many private businesses are closed. Holy Week is a big vacation time for Venezuelans. Caracas basically shuts down. Also, companies usually give vacation from around December 15 through January 15.

New Year's Day; Holy Thursday and Good Friday; Proclamation of Independence Day (April 19); Labor Day (May 1); Battle of Carabobo (June 24); Independence Day (July 5); Simón Bolívar's birthday (July 24); Columbus Day (October 12); Christmas Eve and Day.
