Uber is available in Peru, but taxi-booking apps like Cabify (www.cabify.com) and Beat (thebeat.co/pe) are preferred. While Uber is fine for short drives around Lima and Cusco, Uber drivers are known to overcharge and "forget" to switch on the Uber app once they arrive to pick you up, and the company has a reputation for not following up with customer complaints in Peru. Local cars can be unreliable, too: they are generally old and without air-conditioning and, at times, even without seat belts. Cabify and Beat are safer, more reliable options.
