Ride-Sharing

Uber is available in Peru, but taxi-booking apps like Cabify (www.cabify.com) and Beat (thebeat.co/pe) are preferred. While Uber is fine for short drives around Lima and Cusco, Uber drivers are known to overcharge and "forget" to switch on the Uber app once they arrive to pick you up, and the company has a reputation for not following up with customer complaints in Peru. Local cars can be unreliable, too: they are generally old and without air-conditioning and, at times, even without seat belts. Cabify and Beat are safer, more reliable options. If you are looking to secure a ride from the airport into the city, you might want to instead avail of the convenient Airport Express Lima to reach Miraflores or San Isidro; rates start at US$6.
