Extending a Peru Tourist Visa

If you are not happy with the duration of the tourist visa you've been given on arrival in Peru, you can always extend it online using the Migraciones website (www.migraciones.gob.pe). Most major cities have an Immigration department, but you don't have to visit: you can pay S/12 at any branch of Banco de la Nacion and collect a receipt from them. Once you have paid, log onto the Migraciones website and select Prorroga de Permanencia en Linea. Insert the required passport details and the number of extra days you want, being careful not to exceed 183 days in total from your first entry into Peru. On the next screen, you'll have to insert some of the numbers found at the bottom of your Banco de la Nacion payment slip. If all is correct, you'll receive your visa extension in your email a few minutes later. That's all you'll ever need to print and carry with you until you leave the country.
