Train

The train journey from the capital is the most memorable travel option, but service is limited, with bimonthly trips running only from May to November. On the route from Lima to Huancayo, the 12-hour, 335-km (207-mile) railway cuts through the Andes, across mountain slopes, and above deep crevasses where thin waterfalls plunge into icy streams far below.
