Fodor's Expert Review Las Mesitas
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
It's easy to miss this tiny historic café half a block north of Barranco's Parque Municipal, but it is known for serving inexpensive, traditional dishes such as carapulcra (stewed beef and potatoes), and pescado a la chorrillana (fish fillet in a tomato, onion, and aji chili broth). Traditional limeño puddings such as manjar de lucuma (made from a native fruit) or the vanilla-and-cinnamon suspiro a la limeña are the best reasons to stop by.
