Staying in this meticulously restored 1920s mansion on a quiet street near Barranco's malecón is a bit like staying with friends, thanks to the laid-back atmosphere and helpful staff. The stately, two-story house is hemmed by gardens, with terraces, decks, and a tower from which to admire the surroundings. A second-floor deck with a small bar affords a lovely view of the Pacific, framed by palm trees. As for the rooms, they have high ceilings and plenty of windows, with pine floors, antiques, and an eclectic mix of art; the best have bright, spacious bathrooms with freestanding tubs. The house is a short walk from the center of Barranco and most restaurants, but the staff will fix you a meal if you prefer to stay in.
