Started in 1999 and built over a 14-year span using no steel or concrete, local artist and architect Octavio Mendoza's former home outside Villa la Leyva is made entirely of baked-clay pieces. It's open daily for self-guided tours, and although he lives in town, most days you'll find Mendoza in residence, continuing his work.
