A beautifully restored wooden Antioquean home with blue-and-white accents, La Posada del Compadre is the perfect base to explore the village. Rooms are ample, with the original high ceilings adding to the sense of space, and basic but good-quality furnishings. Bathrooms are compact but spotless, and the shower is piping hot. The central courtyard is filled with flowers, with several wrought-iron tables next to a small fountain; a small terrace at the far end offers sweeping views. The French owner has great contacts locally and organizes a number of excellent day trips, including a picnic in nearby meadows or visits to a small organic-coffee farm.
