Fodor's Expert Review Lodge Caleta Gonzalo

Caleta Gonzalo, Parque Pumalin, Los Lagos, 5850000, Chile

Seven gray-shingled cabanas, each designed to be distinct from its neighbor, sit high on stilts against the backdrop of the misty mountains. Broad front porches and tall windows let in lots of light. The interiors are rustic yet luxurious, with handcrafted furniture and hand-woven woolen blankets. There are also two cabanas, with kitchen and wood stoves for heating at the Río Gonzalo Farm. To access, you must cross a hanging wooden bridge. The complex includes an attractive visitor center and handicraft shop stocking books, guides, and maps, as well as organic honey and jams. A copper-hooded corner fireplace welcomes you at the adjacent café for meals from early morning until midnight year-round.
