Tours

Most wineries in the Central Valley allow you to make your own direct booking, and the relatively easy-to-navigate road network makes renting a car a good option for you to get around. However, Chile has a zero tolerance law for drunk driving, so booking a taxi for the day is often preferable, and safer. Alternatively, each of the agencies below organizes private and group tours to the different wine regions.

Ruta Valle de Luz. This alternative wine tourism company organizes visits to garage wineries and organic producers; an artisan route to see the local craftsmen can also be incorporated into the tour. Hearty lunches exploring local cuisine are an added highlight. If you want to get away from the big producers, this is the tour agency for you. Av. Errazuriz 1172, Santa Cruz, O'Higgins, 3110000. 09/7698–0801; Facebook/Turismo-Ruta-Valle-de-Luz. From 45000 pesos. Daily 11–7.

Upscape. This tourism outfitter organizes wine tours from Santiago to the different wine routes either in full-day or multiday trips. Visits usually come with premium wine pours, your own bilingual guide, private transfer, and pick-up from your hotel doorstep. Tegualda 1352, Providencia, Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan, 7501433. 2/2244–2750; www.upscapetravel.com. From 193000 pesos. Weekdays 9–6.
