Built in 1540 and restored in 1654, the Igreja da Misericórdia has rich sculptures of wood, gold, and silver. It sits atop the Alto da Sé and offers magnificent views of Recife. The church is open for visits of 20 minutes only, at 11:45 am and 5:30 pm, and during Mass, held daily at 6:20 am and on Sundays at 7:30 am.
