A block from the beach in Ipanema, this lodging in a converted 1940s building has eight flats that have stylish, contemporary furnishings and artworks by popular Rio artist Paulo Freire. The location is a stone's throw from excellent bars and restaurants. The one-bedroom suites also have living areas. The flats don't have kitchens, but they do have minibars, and the bathrooms are stocked with quality toiletries. Staff go out of their way to provide information and advice to guests throughout their stay, Wi-Fi is included in the rate, and the flats are cleaned daily. There's no elevator, however, so bear in mind you may have to carry luggage up several flights of stairs, and under-18s are not permitted.
