Holidays

During Carnival and many of Bolivia’s other holidays the country virtually shuts down, sometimes for a couple of days before and after. Don’t plan to travel on the holiday itself, as transit is practically nonexistent. Major holidays are New Year’s Day; Carnival (the weekend before the start of Lent); Good Friday (March or April); Labor Day (May 1); Independence Day (August 6); All Saints’ Day (November 2); and Christmas.
