Skiing

Cerro Chapelco. The Chapelco Ski Resort is ideal for families and beginner-to-intermediate skiers. It has modern facilities and lifts, including a high-speed telecabina (gondola) from the base. On a clear day almost all the runs are visible from the top—a height of 1991 meters (6,534 feet)—and Lanín Volcano dominates the horizon. Lift tickets cost from 165 pesos per day in low season to 285 pesos in high season. Equipment rental facilities are available at the base camp (130–270 pesos per day for skis, boots, and poles). On some days cars need chains to get up to the mountain, so call and check the latest conditions before driving up. Taxis can also take you up or down for about 45 pesos each way. In summer, the Adventure Center has mountain biking for experts and classes for beginners, plus horseback rides, hiking, archery, a swimming pool, an alpine slide, and children's activities.
