When to Go

Peak Season: June to October

Plan and book well in advance. Wisconsin summers can be idyllic (temperatures in the 70s and 80s) and hotels and attractions are running at full tilt. Leaf-peeping is a huge draw from late September through mid-October.

Off Season: December to February

The best hotel deals can be found this time of year, and, even though it’s the state’s low tourist season (average temperatures fluctuate between zero to high 30s), it’s high season for outdoor play in the snow and ice.

Shoulder Season: November; March to May

After the colorful leaves fall but before winter-holiday attractions, November means discounted hotels and other deals. Temperatures hover in the 30s and 40s and it usually hasn't snowed yet. Cool weather in April and May means many layers of clothing are necessary.
