Boat and Ferry Travel

Washington State Ferries offer the most direct route from Seattle to the Olympic Peninsula. Fares vary seasonally. Walk-ons pay less than vehicles with a driver and other passengers. A ferry from Whidbey Island takes travelers to downtown Port Townsend.

Nearby ferry terminals in Edmonds, Kingston, and Bremerton also provide access to the Olympic Peninsula. From Port Angeles, travelers can reach Victoria, British Columbia, on the M.V. Coho, which makes 1½-hour Port Angeles–Victoria crossings four times daily from mid-May through mid-October and twice daily the rest of the year (except when it's docked for maintenance, from mid-January through mid-March). Rates are $62 per car and driver, $17.50 per passenger, and $6.50 per bike; travelers can reserve ahead online or by telephone for an additional fee. Coho, operated by Black Ball Transport, departs from the ferry terminal at the foot of Laurel Street.
