Hyatt Regency Lake Washington

Why We Like It

Modern and luxurious, the recently built Hyatt Regency has comfortable guestrooms, amenities such as a spa and a pool, and unbeatable lakefront views. The hotel, which also overlooks the industrial-cool Boeing assembly plant, is within reach of Downtown Seattle, Bellevue, and Sea-Tac Airport.

Fodor's Expert Review

Across from Seattle on the south end of Lake Washington, the Hyatt Regency is a luxurious property that debuted in 2017. Right on the lakefront with panoramic views of the water, city, and Olympic Mountains, the contemporary hotel is located in an industrial area that includes Boeing’s assembly plant. In fact, some rooms overlook a hanger and runway for fresh-off-the-line 737 jets. With brand-new guestrooms, amenities such as a spa and a pool, and Hyatt Regency-level quality, the hotel has plenty of appeal for business and pleasure travelers alike.

You Should Know It’s a 20-minute drive to Seattle, but beware: The trip can be a huge hassle during rush hour. Ask at the hotel for tips to avoid the standstill traffic. On the other hand, it’s a (usually) stress-free 15-minute drive to Sea-Tac Airport.

Room

Staying at a new upscale hotel is a special treat. Everything is fresh, on-trend, and up-to-date with handy little features like USB outlets and smart lighting. Spacious guestrooms, with warm modern wood tones and soft hues, include the Hyatt’s plush signature bed and a 65” flat-screen TV. It’s definitely worth an upgrade to a room with a view of the lake and the bird reserve next to the hotel. The most luxurious suites include a private outdoor terrace.

You Should Know There’s active construction near the hotel that might bother guests. Also, some guestrooms face a bland apartment complex.

Bathroom

With marble walls, polished concrete counters, backlit mirrors, and a frosted-glass toilet room, the bathrooms feel very high-end. Basic rooms have a walk-in shower while upgraded rooms include a deep soaking tub.

Lobby

The stylish lobby features striking wood-paneled walls, a huge chandelier, and hip modern furniture in blues and beiges that nod to the colors of the lakefront. Expansive windows frame the view beyond for a stunning backdrop. A grand staircase leads to the lower level where the views are even better.

Tip The hotel is already a popular destination for scenic weddings.

Pool

Next to the gym, connected through the locker rooms, the pool area features an indoor saline pool, a whirlpool, and cabana-style seating.

Gym

A 24-hour fitness center includes the usual cardio options, plus strength equipment, free weights, a yoga room, and a top-notch view.

Tip Nice day out? Skip the gym and take a brisk stroll in Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, which has a 1.5-mile walking trail between the hotel and park. You’ll also find swimming, fishing, kayaking, sand-volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits nearby.

Dining

The hotel’s aptly named signature restaurant, Water’s Table, features farm-to-table Asian-inspired cuisine, alfresco seating, and views for miles. The smoky seafood chowder is particularly delish. For grab-and-go snacks and meals, The Market, open 24 hours a day, has relatively affordable options. You can order items from The Market through room service, as well.

Drinking

The bar at Water’s Edge features signature cocktails, a wine list with local choices, a solid beer list, and bar snacks like potstickers and grilled cheese sandwiches.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Don’t stay at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington without a car unless you don’t plan to leave. To get to Seattle, there are two options. I-90, which crosses Mercer Island, is a long floating bridge that connects with I-5 North. I-520, also known as the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, is a toll highway that’s usually a little less congested than I-90.

Restaurants

Next to the Hyatt, the charming Peyrassol Café (5-minute walk) is a petite French bistro serving classics such as beef bourguignon, slow-braised duck, and seafood crepes. Seattle’s Ivar’s chain has locations throughout the area that range from casual to upscale. Close to the hotel on the waterfront, this family-friendly Ivar’s Seafood Bar (5-minute walk) is the former, with fast-casual items like fish ‘n’ chips and salmon chowder.

Bars

There isn’t a lot of nightlife nearby, but options include Sweet Decadence is an artisan spot (5-minute drive or 15-minute walk) that sells high-end chocolates, perfect espresso, and wine by the glass, and Trencher’s Kitchen and Tap (5-minute drive or 15-minute walk) has a great beer selection, pub food, and trivia nights. There’s also parking to make things easy.
