Kite Flying

Blossom Kite Festival. Known as the Smithsonian Kite Festival until 2011, this annual kite fest gives kids and adults a chance to enjoy a day of kite flying on the grounds of the Washington Monument. A signature event of the weeks-long National Cherry Blossom Festival in early spring, this granddaddy of kite festivals features kite battles and incredible kite-flying exhibitions. It's a chance to see the creativity of kite makers and the skill of kite fliers from across the nation and the world.
