Why We Like It
We love all the comforts of home (a stylish, urbanite home, that is) at this neighborhood retreat, especially the in-room telescopes, yoga mats, and general relaxed feel--not to mention, the complimentary morning coffee and evening wine hour. Nearby Rock Creek Park’s hiking trails are a definite plus. This is the sort of place we like to come to unwind, away from the city center’s bustle (though not too far away if we need an urban fix!). And we'll always return for the tea—a custom blend of sencha with cherry, jasmine, and rose made specifically for this property and available only here.

If you’re looking for neighborhoodly digs, this newly revamped, design-driven boutique hotel is it. Taking a cue from the surrounding Rock Creek Park neighborhood, the Kimpton Glover Park Hotel offers a stylish but comfortable urban retreat for couples and families alike. The lobby welcomes like a comfy living room, and special touches, including free bike rentals, in-room telescopes, and artwork throughout by Michele Oka Doner, make you feel like you’ve come home.
You Should Know The closest metro is 1.5 miles away. The hotel has a shuttle service, or you can take taxis, but it's better to have your own car.

Room
Your spacious room—averaging 450 square feet in size—is decked out in cheery whites and greens, accented with rich wood finishes and historical wall hangings. Extra special touches include in-room telescopes (the hotel perches high on a hill, offering sweeping city views) and complimentary yoga mats. You will not want to leave—though with nearby hikes to tackle, you must!
Tip Twenty-one rooms have kitchenettes, and 25 have city views.
Bathroom
Though on the smaller side, the bathroom is sufficient. The Atelier Bloem bath add a taste of luxury.
Lobby
The espresso-and-white lobby feels more like your urbanite friend’s living room, complete with bookshelves, modular vases, and lots of throw pillows on the stylish sofa. It’s the sort of place you’ll want to perch with a book and see who else is hanging out.
Spa
There’s no spa, but in-room spa services are offered.
Gym
The gym is an Urban Athletic Club, with top-of-the-line fitness equipment and group classes. Personal trainers are on hand.
Dining
Award-winning Chef Michael Schlow’s Casolare restaurant provides a taste of coastal Italy; in-room service is available.

The Glover Park Hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood just north of Georgetown, with the closest metro station being Glover Park, 1.5 miles away. It wouldn’t hurt to have a car to help get around.

Surfside (1-minute walk) is a laidback Mexican food in a summer-year-round setting, including a fabulous rooftop deck. Sushi Keiko (4-minute walk) is DC’s oldest sushi restaurant, serving innovative and traditional Japanese dishes. It's a neighborhood favorite.
Bars
Breadsoda Deli, Bar and Billiards (5-minute walk) is a fun local hangout with pool tables, a shuffleboard, Wii, darts and board games. Slate Wine Bar & Bistro (3-minute walk) has global wines and a menu filled with yummy Mediterranean-, Italian- and Spanish-themed dishes, in a cozy, wine-cellar-esque ambiance.
