A former haunt of George Washington, the area now houses beautifully preserved Federalist-style buildings, trendy boutiques, and a constantly changing food and drink scene. King Street, the main thoroughfare, runs from the Potomac River to the metro station and has free trolleys running daily. You can also take water taxis to D.C. or National Harbor from the Old Town waterfront.
